Engineering, Biology, Health in Lorraine
The Shared Platform Service for Engineering, Biology, and Health in Lorraine (SMP IBSLor) of the Biology, Medicine, and Health (BMS) division of the University of Lorraine was created on January 1, 2024.
It follows on from the joint service unit (UMS) 2008 / US40 Engineering, Biology, Health in Lorraine (IBSLor, 2018-2023) created by a CNRS unit (UMR7365 IMoPA) and two INSERM units (U1116 DCAC and U1256 NGERE) under the triple supervision of the University of Lorraine, the CNRS, and the INSERM. It has three staff members of its own and staff provided by the constituent units.
The SMP IBSLor has two missions:
The SMP has six technological platforms: biophysics and structural biology, cytometry, epitranscriptomics and sequencing, functional genomics, imaging, and proteomics.
The platforms are intended to be available to the scientific community of the BMS Cluster, the University of Lorraine, and more broadly, the Grand Est region. They are also open to all scientists, academic teams, and industrial partners.
The Strategic Orientation Council is chaired by the Director of the UMS2008 IBSLor.
The Strategic Orientation Council defines and advises on the major strategic, political and technical orientations of the UMS2008 IBSLor:
It meets at least once a year, convened by its president.
The Core-facilities Management Council is chaired by the Director of the UMS2008 IBSLor and the Core-Facility Coordination.
The mission of the Core-facilities Management Council is to help structure and guide the unit's activities.
The objective is to take decisions on strategic orientations of common interest on a collegial basis.
In order to better meet the needs and expectations of our users, the UMS2008 IBSLor and its 6 technology core facilities are engaged in a quality approach since 01 January 2018 to obtain ISO9001:2015 certification in 2020.
We are accompanied in our approach by Laurent Perilhon (DAPEQ, UL).
The core facilities of the UMS2008 IBSLor are located at Biopôle (Building 15) and in buildings C (Building 8) and D (Building 12) on the Brabois-Santé campus of the University of Lorraine in Nancy.
The Biopôle hosts on the ground level the core facilities of:
Building C hosts the Functional Genomics facility.
Building D hosts the second part of the Cytometry facility (flow cytometer equipment).
